A Government Minister will address businesses in Coventry later this month at the region’s foremost economic event.
Kwasi Kwarteng MP, the Minister for Business, Energy and Clean Growth, is joining an already impressive line-up of speakers at the Coventry Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Economic Conference.
The event, now in its 20th year, is set to take place on 11 November and has navigated around the impending second lockdown by transitioning to an online format, being streamed online via Zoom.
This year’s conference will focus on the theme of recovery and resilience, hearing from a range of speakers from industry as well as decision-makers at a local, regional and national level.
In line with the theme, the digital conference will look at how the city can bounce back from the impact of COVID-19, discuss navigating the end of the EU transition period, and explore the opportunities that both Coventry 2021 and Birmingham 2022 will bring to the city and wider region.
Kwarteng joins the list of major speakers, which includes:
- Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street;
- Nadhim Zahawi, MP for Stratford-on-Avon;
- Angela Joyce, CEO of Warwickshire College Group;
- Andrew Carter, Chief Executive of the Centre for Cities;
- Martin Sutherland, Chief Executive of the Coventry City of Culture Trust;
- Leigh Hunt, CityFibre’s City Manager;
- Martin Reeves, Chief Executive of Coventry City Council; and
- Monica Fogarty, Chief Executive of Warwickshire County Council.
Despite the Conference being held digitally this year, it is still anticipating a strong online audience of around 300 delegates.
Expressing his delight, Chris Nagle, one of the organisers of the event, praised Kwarteng for signing-up to speak at the event, which he said “promises to be an extremely engaging and interesting conference.”
The two-hour event is being broadcasted with the help of Istead AV, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm; Chris added that despite having to transition to an online format, the event has still managed to secure “a very impressive line-up of contributors [and] some great sponsors.”
